October, 2006
The last several months have brought many exciting changes relevant to this site. First, several training opportunities have been added for professionals interested in training in existential theory and therapy. Second, I've added an existential dictionary to the site to help people become more familiar with the terms relevant to existential theory. Third, I've added an existential quotes section to tantalize readers into checking out these books. This contains some of the most important and powerful quotes from the existential literature. The dictionary and quotes page are works in process, so it will continue to be developed over the coming months. Finally, the number of unique visitors and total visits to the site continues to grow reaching new all-time highs -- Existentialism appears to be alive and well!!
May, 2006
The month of May finally brings a new article to the existential therapy web site.
Existentialism and the Middle Road examines the issues of balance, paradox, and compromise in an existential perspective. In recently months other essays on Postmodernism and Existentialism along with Integrative Approaches to Existentialism were added. Hopefully, several more essays will be added in the coming months.
The readership of the site continues to be strong with many viewers a month and I continue to receive feedback from a variety of readers around the United States and around the world. It's always nice to hear that what people are reading is impacting them and making them think.
December, 2005
I decided that it was time to make some small changes to this site to make room for continued growth and easier use. This decision was largely made following the increased success and readership of the site. Last month the site did top 3,000 users. The changes may create a few changes if you have linked to this web site. I changed some of the folders so that the URL for many of the page are more clean (i.e, it does have the %#@ figures anymore). However, if links are bookmarks were set to these pages they will need to be updated. In recent months there have been several classes which have linked to the web site, so I wanted to make these changes early before more links are established that may need to be changed.
The "Existential Psychology Topics" has been changed from the "Intermediate and Advanced Topics." This page has been designed as the place where new topics will be added. For example, a page on postmodernism and existential psychology is hopefully coming later in December. For now, a page on Transpersonal Psychology has been added. Hopefully, I'll add a "misconceptions" page before long.
Please continue to contact me with feedback for the site or suggestions on directions to go with the site as it continues to expand. I've greatly appreciated the feedback I've received from many of you so far!
November, 2005
The site continues to do well and grow in its readership. There is now an average of over 2,000 unique visitors per month and currently the site is on track to have 3,000 unique visitors in November. An increasing number of new links to the web site have helped provide this boost. Along with the new links, the web site was the featured site for November at Amoeba web, a web site constructed by Dr. Doug Degelman at Vanguard University. Thanks to all those who have linked to the site, offered feedback, and shared their appreciation for the site.
There are plans to added some new content over Christmas break including a new section on transpersonal psychology and its relationship with existentialism, a feature on the relationship between postmodernism and existentialism, and some additional special topics.
April, 2005
This month represents the first time that the web site reached over 1,000 unique visitors visiting 3,000 pages. Since the first publishing of the site approximately one year ago, the site has continued to see increasing traffic, however, this month marks the most significant increase in site traffic. It is my hope this traffic increase is related to growing renewed interest in existential theory and therapy. Viewers are encouraged to add links to web site and share it with others to continue to help the site to grow.
A new paper by Dr. Louis Hoffman with a link to a conference paper was added on the References page. The paper reviews modern and postmodern approaches to epistemology with particular attention being paid to the religious and spiritual issues. The paper alludes to existentialism as being an important part of a constructive answer to the challenge of postmodernism.
