This web page is designed for those interested in existential training and/or discussion opportunities. This page will be regularly updated with information about training and discussion opportunities.
Many of the training opportunities will be hosted by Dr. Louis Hoffman, the creator of this web site. Opportunities through the Colorado School of Professional Psychology and the Depth Psychotherapy Network will also be listed. If you’d like to suggest an activity to be posted, please contact Dr. Hoffman. Training opportunities and links will be listed by state, with Colorado listed first.

Dr. Louis Hoffman is hosting an existential theory discussion group focusing on the application of existential theory to the therapy, growth, and healing process. This readings group will meet once a month. Each 3-hour meeting will consist of a brief presentation on existential theory and a discussion of book for the month. Certification options are expected to be available soon. Click here for more information.
Upcoming Schedule:
- Friday, January 19, 5:30-8:30: Rediscovery of Awe by Kirk Schneider – Dr. Schneider is scheduled to be in attendance at this discussion.
- Sunday, February 11, 6:15-9:15 Sylvia. Because of the short time between meetings, we will be watching the movie Sylvia, which is about Sylvia Plath's life, and discussing it from an existential perspective. You should watch the movie before the meeting.
- Sunday, March 25, 6:15-9:15, Field Notes on the Compassionate Life: A Search for the Soul of Kindness by Ian Barasch

California
Training at the Existential-Humanistic Institute
Located in San Francisco, this institute offers occasional training in existential theory. Many of the most important figures in existential psychology continue to be affiliated with this institute.
International Institute for Humanistic Studies(IIHS)
IIHS offers some short and more intensive training programs in existential-humanistic therapy. The intensive programs are offered a couple of weekends a year over a couple year period. For more intensive training external to graduate programs, this is, in my view, the premiere training in existential therapy.
